Self-control . . . it's so easy to explain, and so, so hard to do!
Self-control is simply making the right choice even when it's really not what you want to do. Instead of getting into an argument with the annoying guy at the office, you simply walk away. Instead of getting that extra helping of fries, you get up from the table. Instead of hitting restart for the tenth time on your favorite video game, you get up and go for a walk.
It's easy to understand, but very hard to do. But self-control is something that God wants us to use.
Galatians 5:22 - 23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control . . .
And one more thing . . . When I was a kid, I thought that it was fruits of the Spirit; you know apples, oranges, grapes, different kinds of fruits. That way you could pick and choose which ones you had, or didn't have. But as an adult, I realized that it is ONE fruit. It's like an orange; if you're missing a piece, the fruit isn't whole. These things work together to make our lives, and the lives of those around us, better.
